Job Description
We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity within our Human Resources team for an Executive Assistant, effective immediately or as soon as possible.
Lethbridge School Division is seeking an experienced and highly professional individual to serve as Executive Assistant to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. Reporting directly to the Associate Superintendent, the successful candidate will bring strong technical and organizational skills, sound judgment, and excellent interpersonal abilities, along with demonstrated knowledge of Provincial employment-related legislation, including Employment Standards and Human Rights.

The Role
The Executive Assistant provides comprehensive administrative support to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resources. As a key member of the Human Resources team, this role supports a broad range of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment and staffing, government reporting, maintenance of HR-related software databases, and other generalist responsibilities.
A central component of this role is the interpretation and application of collective agreements. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience interpreting collective agreements in a unionized environment and will provide accurate, timely, and practical advice and assistance to staff, school‑based administrators, and system leadership. This work requires sound judgment, discretion, and a strong understanding of labour relations within a public education environment.

Qualifications and Competencies:

The ideal candidate will be flexible, decisive, able to multitask in a fast‑paced environment, and demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, and maturity. A strong technology background is essential, including intermediate‑level proficiency with spreadsheets and databases. The successful candidate will be an innovative thinker with strong communication skills and a commitment to supporting people and positive workplace outcomes.
What will you work?
1.0 FTE (35 hours per week)
Some evening hours are required for scheduled meetings and events.
Education, Training and Experience required:
- Minimum two (2) years of post‑secondary education in business, office administration, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

- Preference given to candidates with coursework or experience specific to Human Resources

- Proof of completion of Grade 12 or GED required along with any other supporting documentation related to post secondary education.

- Education completed outside of Canada must include an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)

- Candidates may be required to demonstrate computer proficiency

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
To ensure a safe and secure working and learning environment, the successful candidate will be required to provide:
- A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.

- A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.

- Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver’s licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.

- Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee’s legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.

- Hold and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license.

Salary range for this position is $68,000 - $72,000 depending on education and experience.
