Job Description
SUMMARY: The Accounting Assistant is responsible to the Accounting Manager for assistance with daily operational accounting of the Family Counseling Center program. This position is non-exempt. The incumbent of this position must have a commitment to performance and quality improvement and will agree to uphold and carry out the agency's PQI policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Accounting
- Responsible for all Accounts Payable (weekly)
- Reconcile bank accounts monthly
- Assist in performing month end closing procedures
- Serve as back up for Finance Director in designated duties
2. Grant Reporting
- Prepare grant/contract reimbursement requests and associated invoices and submit same to funding sources in a timely manner
- Work with Division Managers on specified grant reporting tasks
3. Human resources
- Maintain all benefits
- Respond to employee reference checks
4. Compliance
- Prepare documentation for annual agency audit
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: The incumbent of this position will have prior training and experience in the accounting field. The successful candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience in accounting or an accounting degree. In addition, the candidate will have effective verbal and written communication skills. Regular attendance and punctuality are an essential function. All records maintained by this person will meet the standard for agency accreditation. Cultural sensitivity is an integral part of this position.

-Ability to use general office equipment including computer keyboard by touch, voice mail system, copy machine and printers

-Must be able to maintain an effective relationship with, and among employees and clients
-Must be able to proficiently read, write and communicate clearly in English
-Must be able to use hands, fingers and wrists repetitively, using a keyboard and adding machine
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Must be able to see clearly with or without corrective lenses and hear and speak clearly with or without aid
-Must be able to use hands – specifically using a computer keyboard and other office equipment
-Must be able to lift 20 lbs. occasionally and with assistance, if necessary
-Must be able to sit stand, walk, squat bend and reach overhead regularly
WORK CONDITIONS: Works in an indoor office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation
Retirement- agency will match employee contributions up to 5% of employee’s pay

Paid Time Off - All full time (37.5 hours) employees will accrue paid leave on the following schedule:
1-2 years 150 hours or 20 days
3-5 years 165 hours or 22 days
6-10 years 187.5 hours or 25 days
11-14 years 202.5 hours or 27 days
15 years and beyond 225 hours or 30 days
Holidays - The following days will generally be recognized as paid holidays:

Other –
- The office is closed from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day, at the Executive Director’s discretion.
