Job Description
At Devoli, our mission is to simplify telco & connectivity. We've built the leading platform to orchestrate and manage data and voice services, taking the hassle out of telco for our customers.
Founded in 2008, we have a few more grey hairs than your typical start-up. We have the privilege of working with a long list of amazing customers, from local managed service providers (MSPs) to big household names like Contact Energy. Our SaaS Platform's Portal and APIs simplify access to a wide range of products for our customers, managing 150,000 connections.
We are a small but diverse team of 50ish people, headquartered in an old pub in Victoria Park in Auckland's CBD.
The role
We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team at Devoli. Whether your background leans more financial accounting or management accounting — or you've built a career that blends both — we're open to hearing from you. This is a hands-on, senior-level role where technical accounting depth meets real commercial partnership. You'll be the go-to person for technical accounting matters, own month-end close end-to-end, and deliver the kind of reliable, insightful work that gives the whole Finance team the foundation to perform at its best.
You'll work closely with our sales, operational and technical teams to deliver accurate, reliable financial information that drives better decisions. We love a good challenge and empower our people to solve hard problems — whether they're technical, commercial, or operational.
What You'll Do
Technical Accounting & Financial Integrity
- Act as the trusted advisor on technical accounting queries and NZ IFRS compliance across the business
-
- Own the balance sheet end-to-end — reconciliations, controls, and everything in between
-
- Deliver an accurate, timely, and audit-ready month-end close
-
- Manage external audit processes with confidence
-
- Ensure GST and corporate tax reconciliations are accurate and compliant
-
Reporting & Systems
- Ensure the integrity and reliability of financial data within NetSuite — the numbers people see should be numbers they can trust
-
- Oversee end-to-end financial data flows and resolve discrepancies before they become problems
-
- Develop robust, repeatable reporting models that scale with the business
-
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, control frameworks, and data quality — including automation initiatives like AP automation
-
- Build and maintain reporting tools that give the Finance team clear, forward-looking visibility
-
Commercial & Business Partnering
- Ensure an outstanding experience for internal stakeholders from budgeting through to year-end
-
- Translate financial results into clear, practical insight
-
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis across the business
-
- Work closely with Revenue Operations to ensure revenue is recognised correctly and costs are captured accurately
-
- Maintain timely, professional communication throughout every stakeholder interaction
-
Team & Process Leadership
- Mentor and grow the Financial Operations Accountant
-
- Drive proactive process and control improvements across the Finance function
-
- Contribute to a high-performing Finance culture and a business that's growing its financial maturity
-
- CA or CPA qualified
-
- 4–6+ years of progressive experience across public practice and/or commercial finance
-
- Proven end-to-end ownership of month-end close and full balance sheet reconciliations
-
- Strong working knowledge of NZ IFRS and technical accounting standards — able to independently research and resolve accounting treatment questions
-
- Experience managing external audit processes, including preparation of high-quality working papers
-
- Solid understanding of GST and corporate tax compliance
-
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability
-
- Strong commercial awareness — able to connect financial results to operational drivers and explain performance movements clearly
-
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate technical accounting matters into clear, practical insight for non-finance stakeholders
-
- A collaborative, team-first mindset with the ability to influence, mentor, and drive outcomes across teams
-
- Experience in fast-paced or high-growth environments — tech, telco, or services backgrounds highly regarded
-
Nice to have
We're less focused on ticking every box and more interested in people who are curious and keen to grow. That said, these would give you an advantage:
- Strong NetSuite capability — advanced user experience, saved searches, workflows, and a solid understanding of how configuration impacts the GL and reporting
-
- Experience in finance transformation, automation initiatives, or systems improvement projects
-
- Power BI capability (SQL proficiency would be a bonus)
-
We're a fun team and no two days are ever the same at Devoli, but there are a few things that are consistent:
- We'll make sure you've got the equipment you need to be successful - a laptop, standing desk and 34" screens while you're in the office
-
- Because we power NZ's best ISPs, we'll provide you with a broadband connection at home and a Devoli Mobile connection
-
- We love a shared lunch! Weekly grocery shops means that we keep our team fed, watered and caffeinated in the office. Expect regular lunches/BBQs and events too, where you can relax, enjoy some good food and banter with the team
-
- Our team culture is welcoming and diverse, and there's a strong sense of being One Team
-
- We believe in continuous learning and invest in our people's growth - we support team members to participate in courses, conferences/events, coaching or other programs and have an individual training budget to make it happen
-
- Oh.. and you get your birthday off, too ;)
